Welcome to the Midlands STEM Charter School Music department!

My name is Michael Grimsley, and I am pleased to be the new Music Teacher at Midlands S.T.E.M. for the 2020-2021 school year. I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where I emphasized in both Band and Orchestra for my Bachelor of Music degree, and Orchestra and Early Childhood Music during my Master of Music Education degree. My primary instruments in college were trumpet and upright bass. Additionally, I sang in the USC Chorus, and as a member of Trinity Episcopal's Cathedral Choir. I also have experience in recording technology and a background in technical theatre. I consider myself well rounded in the performing arts, and I bring that love and experience to each of my students. Prior to coming to Midlands S.T.E.M., I taught 5th - 12th grade Band and Orchestra in both Lexington County School District One, and Richland County School District One for twelve years.
